My baby room

Hello Friends!

I wanted to show you today how did I design my baby room:) It took me few months to finish it but I am really happy how did it turn out :)

This is a little collage which I came up with....Its very close to my heart and I framed it and put it in my bedroom...

And this is the ROOM!!! Well light is very bed for photos as the window is big. Three walls are painted with mint colour and one is painted with light pink/ salmon. I decided to design the whole room in a color pallet of mint, light pink, salmon with few accents of coral and turquoise (as it is favourite colour of TandiArt :))))

Makeover of chest of drawers. I painted it first with chalk paint and glue the fabric to the front of drawers...

Than I wanted to have little reading corner, so we put two shelves...

I made a little banner for a bump photo session and decided to hang it under the shelves:)

I got the bed cot from my friend and decided to paint it with a chalk paint. It wasn't easy and took me I guess two months to finish it but I am happy with it.:)

And of course I added few of my paintings in coordinated colours...

I also made those cute cot pockets for toys:) I ironed on prints of my paintings.

Decorated cot with pillows:)

I bought cheap paper lamp shade and decorated with hand made pom poms :)

My aunt made this pom pom rug for me :)

And my art work designed for my special little princess :)

In love with this baby shower gift. Its little carousel, which plays gentle music:) Love the vintage feel to it!!!

And my painted wooden houses...

I have to say that I am so proud of myself and my boyfriend that we decorated this room together:)))
I hope my babygirl will love it as much as we do :)

I hope you enjoed it!!!

Sneak peak into my art journals

Apart of creating art on canvas and wooden blocks I also love playing in my art journals. They are great for trying new technique and art supplies; sketching new ideas and exploring. I have few art journals and depending on my mood I pick one to work in. I love altering old books or albums bought on sale and transferring them into unique journals.

Now have  a look at my journals and some of the pages:

Mixed media whimsical houses

I decided to try something new:) I ordered wooden blocks (in a place where they cut wood) but this time in a house shape. I painted them, added some collage pieces and of course painted my girls on them. They will look great in my new nursery room ;-)

And this is a link to my YouTube video, where I speak about different surface I paint on

Enjoy!!!!

In everything, love

I have some unfinished canvas hiding somewhere in my studio. Sometimes I got stuck while working on the art piece,  than the best solution is just to leave it for a while. Inspiration will come back and we will look at the (annoying) unfinished piece from different perspective and maybe with new inspiration. That happens often and we need to accept it and let it go... This canvas piece is an example if this experience...

I tried and tried to finish this piece but it didn't speak to me at all...

And than I decided to go through my stash of papers. I have lots of scrapbooking papers and also painted pages which I made myself (usually I just clean brush over piece of paper and I use it for a collage).

Patchwork Fairy

I wanted to show you my first painting of 2014:) I actually have started working on it on 31st of Dec but I finished her on 1st Jan 2014:). I used the patchwork method (which I named myself), it means that I created paper patchwork background, which was my starting point for the painting.

  1. Tear pieces of interesting pattern paper and glue it to the canvas.

2. Add white paint or gesso around each paper square to soften its edges. If you applied to much paint, wipe it off with baby wipes.

3. Outline some interesting shapes to create flowers, hearts or other additional objects surrounding the girl, than you are ready to outline our fairy. I used the watercolour crayon in a Bark color (dark brown)

4. I also added some paint around the girl. If you are going for a vintage design, mint colour looks great!!!

5. I painted face and went for turquoise eyes:) I also added butterfly wings, printed from internet. I also added some brown ink to the edges to add more vintage feel to whole piece. And my fairy is ready!!!! I love her!!!! I hope that I encourage you to create your own. I will be teaching how to create this art piece in my upcoming workshop in Galway, Ireland.

Christmas Art:)

I love creating special Christmas Art. I promised myself that every year I will be adding hand made items to my Christmas Decorations. I will be also selling my art work in Christmas markets so I came up with few ideas:                 My Christmas Cards
Christmas candle holders.                  Little gift for my friends wrapped in a quick but arty way:)
